Privacy Policy for GrowingDays
Last Updated: July 22, 2026
Welcome to GrowingDays (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your sensitive health information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our menstrual and cycle tracking application (the “App”).
By using the App, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
We collect different types of information to provide and improve our services. Crucially, we do not ask for, collect, or store any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, or phone number. Your sensitive health data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
A. Local Health Data (Stored Only on Your Device)
When you use the App, you voluntarily provide menstrual and health data, which is stored exclusively locally on your device:
- Cycle and Period Data: Start and end dates of your periods, average cycle length, and average period duration.
- Daily Health Logs: Flow intensity, mood, pain/cramp levels, basal body temperature, and other symptoms you choose to log.
B. Anonymous Technical Data (Collected Automatically)
To ensure the App runs smoothly and to improve user experience, we use third-party tools (Google Firebase) to collect strictly anonymous technical data. This data does not include any health, personal, or identifiable information:
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and anonymous device identifiers.
- App Usage Data: Screen views, feature interactions, and app performance metrics (via Firebase Analytics).
- Crash Data: Stack traces and error logs when the App crashes or encounters a non-fatal error (via Firebase Crashlytics).
- Push Notification Tokens: Generated solely to deliver local reminders and app updates (via Firebase Cloud Messaging).
C. App Configuration Data
We use Firebase Realtime Database strictly to fetch remote, public application configurations (such as force-update requirements or feature flags). No personal or health data is stored in or retrieved from this database.
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To Provide Core Functionality: To track your menstrual cycle, predict future periods, ovulation, and fertile windows based on your local inputs.
- To Send Reminders: To schedule and deliver local notifications for period predictions and symptom logging reminders.
- To Improve the App: To analyze anonymous app performance, identify and fix bugs, and understand how users interact with the App.
3. Data Storage and Security
- 100% Local-First Architecture: Your sensitive health data is stored exclusively in a local, on-device database (SQLDelight).
- Zero Personal Data Collection: We do not collect, store, or have access to your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information.
- No Cloud Sync for Health Data: We do not have a backend server that collects, stores, or processes your menstrual cycle or health data. Your data never leaves your device.
- Device Security: Because your data is stored locally, it is protected by your device’s physical security and operating system protections.
- Data Deletion: You can completely erase all your health data at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing the App’s data from your device’s settings (Settings → Apps → GrowingDays → Storage → Clear Data).
4. Data Retention Policy
We retain your information only for as long as necessary to provide you with the App’s services and comply with our legal obligations.
A. Local Health Data
- Retention Period: Your menstrual and symptom data is stored locally on your device and retained indefinitely until you choose to delete it.
- Deletion Methods: You can delete all your local data at any time by:
- Uninstalling the GrowingDays app from your device.
- Clearing the app’s data/storage from your device settings.
- Automatic Deletion: We do not automatically delete your local data. It remains on your device under your absolute control until you manually remove it.
B. Technical and Analytics Data (Firebase)
- Firebase Analytics: Data collected through Firebase Analytics is retained for 14 months by default, after which it is automatically and permanently deleted by Google. This data is strictly anonymous.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Crash reports and non-fatal error logs are retained for 90 days by default, after which they are automatically deleted by Google.
- Push Notification Tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens are retained until you uninstall the app or revoke notification permissions, at which point they are automatically invalidated.
C. Your Control Over Data Retention
Because your health data is stored locally and we do not collect personal information, you have complete and absolute control over how long your data is retained. You can delete it at any time using the methods described above.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services provided by Google to operate the App. These services have their own privacy policies:
- Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymous usage data to help us understand how the App is used.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Collects crash reports and device information to help us fix bugs.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Used to manage push notification tokens for reminders.
- Firebase Realtime Database: Used strictly for fetching public app configuration settings.
You can review Google’s privacy policy here: https://policies.google.com/privacy
6. Permissions
To function properly, the App requests the following permission on your device:
- Post Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Required to send you reminders about your upcoming period or to log your daily symptoms. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings, but you will no longer receive reminders.
7. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Because your data is stored locally, you have full, direct control over it:
- Right of Access: You can view all the data we store by opening the App and navigating to your calendar and logs.
- Right to Rectification: You can edit or update your cycle data and symptoms directly within the App.
- Right to Erasure (“Right to be Forgotten”): You can delete all your data instantly by uninstalling the App or clearing the App’s storage in your device settings.
- Right to Restrict Processing: You can restrict technical data collection by disabling internet access for the App in your device settings.
- Right to Object: You can object to the collection of anonymous crash/usage data by disabling the respective permissions or network access.
To exercise any of these rights, or if you have questions about your data, please contact us at the email provided below.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can address it.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
